Directions
- In a Dutch oven or large cast iron, heat oil to 350 degrees.
- In a large bowl, whisk the egg, milk, and onion until fully combined. Add in the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, and salt and stir until well combined. Fold in the bacon.
- Using a small cookie scoop, drop batter into oil. Fry until golden brown, 2 to 3 minutes, flipping at least once. Fry in batches of 6 to 8 hush puppies at a time. Drain on a paper towel lined plate. Serve warm with butter or honey.
